There is a post office approximately 10 minutes walk away from Selborne House where you can buy stamps. Staff are available to help you write letters if you wish. Any personal post addressed to you will be given unopened.
There is a pay phone provided for general use for you to telephone out and to receive calls. Staff will help you, should you have difficulty using a telephone.
A wide range of dietary needs are catered for and any special needs are arranged between the service user and the staff.
Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day.
You may order a daily newspaper or periodical to be delivered to Selborne House.
Any electrical appliance brought in must be checked to make sure it is in good working order.
It is advised that all valuable items and monies are securely locked in your room. Items can be handed to the Administrator for safekeeping. Please ask the staff for advice about insurance of personal items.
Laundry services are provided to all Service Users. Clothing needs to be labelled to prevent loss. Service Users able to undertake their own laundry can do so by arrangement with their key worker. A dryer and ironing facilities are also available.
Any item requiring dry cleaning can be undertaken by arrangement with the Service User and their keyworker.
Service Users will usually be encouraged to maintain contact with significant people in their lives. There are no fixed visiting times but visits at extraordinary times may require prior arrangement.
We will also help and arrange support for you to visit friends and family. This need will be discussed on admission to Selborne House.
Each room has a nurse call facility which staff will demonstrate how to use if required.
If there is a fire the alarm will sound. Should this happen, staff will take control of the situation and people may be asked to leave the building. Everyone should stay calm throughout this procedure. The fire assembly points are identified throughout the home.
In the unlikely event of an accident or injury, details should be reported to the nearest member of staff. Staff will be able to help with any concerns, problems or questions.
