community hub

The aim of the service is to provide community work and social opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. Using PCA, people attending the project are encouraged and enabled to experience new activities on an individual and group basis. This helps to develop a sense of self-respect, individual worth and the ability to cooperate and work with others.

community hub
The Community Hub has evolved jointly in response to the modernisation of the day service initiative and the need to support individuals in more independent lifestyles. The Community Hub reception staff actively network to achieve a significant and up to date database of information which enable effective Support and Signposting. The Hub will enable individuals to maintain stability and broaden horizons and reduce social isolation. This will give individuals peace of mind and security knowing that they can access help and guidance. Examples of information available at the hub:

. What's on and where to go in the local area

. Travel timetables for local buses, taxis and trains

. Useful lists of phone numbers

. Leisure activities and opportunities

. Internet access

. A drop in facility is available Monday to Friday 4pm - 6pm

ivybridge link
The link was developed to run with support alongside the hub services. It enables individuals with similar interests to 'Link Up' to pursue their interests together and develop friendships, relationships and circles of support. The link plans and organises social opportunities and events such as pub, jive and karaoke evenings, barbecues, walks, skittles and
dining out etc. This increases individuals’ independence and decreases the levels of paid support. The link has a voluntary membership system which entitles their members to priority mailing for future events and
reduced event costs. We are currently developing a Plymouth link.
